Judgments which are of significance as legal precedents on points of law, practice and procedure of the courts and of public interests from the following courts delivered between 1946 and 1948, and from 1966 onwards are available on this website :
- Court of Final Appeal (since its
establishment in 1997)
- Court of Appeal of the High Court
- Court of First Instance of the High
- District Court
- Family Court
- Lands Tribunal
In the normal course of events, a judgment will be published on this website within 3 working days of its being received. Cases of great importance or public interest will be put under "Newly Added Judgments" on the same day of their delivery.
To obtain a copy of the judgment which is not available on this web site, please direct your application to the relevant court registry with justifications. A fee may be charged upon approval of the application.
The Judiciary has started in August 2008 uploaded onto the website Chinese judgments of jurisprudential value along with their English translation handed down since 1995. This is a new and separate addition in the database.
As from the 1st of January 2009, the Judiciary commenced maintaining a database of Reasons for Sentence handed down in both High Court and District Court for archival purposes. A database of Reasons for Verdict handed down in District Court was established from March 2012 onwards.
