Five-day week for the Judiciary
(Closed on Public Holidays)

The Judiciary will implement a five-day week in three phases as follows:

* Phase one commences on July 1, 2006

       No court sittings are listed on Saturdays, except for admission ceremonies for senior
       counsel, barristers and solicitors in the High Court, hearings fixed by individual Judges or
       where statute provides for Saturday hearings. A new Saturday sitting roster is adopted in the
       Magistrates' Courts to deal with fresh remand cases. For details, please refer to the Daily
       Cause Lists on the Judiciary website.

* Phase two commences on January 1, 2007

       The service hours of the following offices have been extended during weekdays. Details:

  CFA Information Counter and Public Enquiry Service
  Mon to Fri 8.30am – 1.00pm
    2.00pm – 5.45pm

  High Court Information Counter and Public Enquiry Service
  Mon to Fri 8.45am – 6.00pm
    (Stay open during lunchtime)

  CFA and District Court Libraries
  Mon to Fri 8.50am – 6.00pm
    (Stay open during lunchtime)

  Press & Public Relations Office
  Mon to Fri 8.45am – 1.00pm
    2.00pm – 6.00pm

  Complaints Office
  Mon to Fri 8.45am – 1.00pm
    2.00pm – 6.00pm

  Resource Centre for Unrepresented Litigants
  Mon to Fri 8.45am – 1.00pm
    2.00pm – 6.00pm

* The following offices/services remain open from 9 am to 12 noon on Saturdays from        July 1, 2006 until further notice.

  • Accounts Offices
  • Bailiffs' Offices
  • Probate Registry
  • Oaths and Declarations Office
  • High Court Library
  • Counter Service, Court Language Section
